MODEL MAN

Born in Chelmsford, Essex, Model Man (also known as Mark Brandon) is an artist who carries on a rich heritage of British innovative and electronic music. His work reflects the free-spirited culture that emerged with the acid house revolution. Mark is influenced by a variety of genres, but they all have one thing in common - a strong desire to share his story and evoke deep emotion in the listener.

As a child, Model Man grew up in a Mormon family with a strict religious regime. His mother taught him to play the piano while introducing him to classical music. Twenty-year-old Mark was drawn to rave culture and its intoxicating atmosphere, which was a contrast to his previous life of "hard Christianity." Although he initially tried to reject his strict upbringing, as he worked on his debut album he realized that it was impossible to completely deny his roots while still expressing himself authentically and with integrity. So he began to merge the two worlds into a cohesive whole, where traditional, classical tones and melodies were intertwined with the vibrant, visceral energy of rave music.

In his live performances, Model Man performs as a solo artist and his energetic sets are based around live loops, sampling and sound manipulation. At the same time, he constantly plays the piano, which is a characteristic element of his music.

In November 2022, he made his first tour in the US and Mexico, presenting his art in a series of concerts and festivals. He also announced a London concert at the Colour Factory following previous sold out shows around the city.

Since 2022, the definition of "Model Man" has been constantly shifting and evolving. For Mark and his project, it is about authenticity - embracing the whole self, not fighting who he is, freeing himself from the limiting expectations of society, religion, cultural ideals and other pressures of this world.
