PIO SQUAD

PIO SQUAD, a Jihlava formation , which after more than two decades of existence belongs to the legends of domestic hip hop. Its origins date back to 1998 and in 2011, under the name Jižní Pionýři, it made itself known on the Lyrik Derby compilation, where it signed under the tracks Odpočinek and Noc a Den.

The band's new era began in 2006 with the release of Punk is dead. The album brought, besides a change in the band's name, a significant change in their style and was well received, as evidenced by an award in the Angel poll.

The successful album Interview followed, and in 2016, Pio Squad, still consisting of Efko, Eurodel, De Puta Madre and DJ J-Kid, released the album Trees in the Storm, for which they won their second Angel statuette in the Best Hip-Hop Record category.

At the end of 2021, De Puta Madre and then J-Kid left the group, and after the engagement of DJ Flux, the line-up of hip hop matadors settled into the current line-up of Efko, Eurodel and DJ Cut Dem, who produced the latest cut in their extensive discography, the album Torzo, at their Sonic State studio. Released at the end of 2022, it features guest appearances by Orion, Chistychov , as well as young singer and rapper Baby G, for example, who will not be absent from the Metronome Festival. For the Metronome Festival, Pio Squad have prepared a special exclusive performance, where the latest tracks as well as old tried and tested hits are not to be missed and maybe even a special guest will arrive.

Pio Squad is a stalwart of the local music scene. On the Czech hip-hop scene it has collaborated with all the major names from Vladimir 518 and Hugo Toxxx to Slovak stars like Moja Reč, Zverina and Vec. 

Pio Squad's most famous non-genre collaboration is a collaboration with Jarek Nohavica or a similarly conceived collaboration with rockers Cocotte Minute. In 2016, they were at the birth of a project to raise funds for children in the Chalantika slum in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka called "PIO SQUAD FOR CHALANTIKA". A video to support the bills, a series of concerts, collaboration with the humanitarian organization Adra and media support.

Furthermore, Pio Squad collaborated on music with DJ Enemy, DJ Wich, Indy, La4, Wladimir 518, Orion, Vec, Moja Reč, Zverina, Dtonate, Dysmusax, Marys, Hugo Toxxx, Kato, Refew, Čistychov, Slipo, Dannie, Questablist crew, Lůzer. Collaborated with U.S.A. rap legends like: Smif n Wessun, Tash, Heltah Skeltah. They have opened for legends like Snoop Dogg (personally picked them), Guru (Gang Starr), The Roots, The Beatnuts, Smif n Wessun, Heltah Skeltah.
