THE ATAVISTS

The Atavists are a Czech rock band influenced by surf and stoner styles. Formed at the end of 2014, they quickly found their place on the Czech music scene, especially thanks to their energetic live performances. At the centre of The Atavists' unmistakable sound is frontman, guitarist and main songwriter Adam Krofian with his throaty baritone and devastating guitar lines. He is backed by the screaming sound of electric organ and synthesizer and a hard-hitting rhythm section.

The Atavists have secured a place in the final of the GBOB International Battle of the Bands in Berlin. This was followed by a string of appearances at major Czech music festivals and also supporting famous Norwegian rockers Kvelertak. At the beginning of 2016, their debut album "Bad Times" was released to critical acclaim. Later that year they opened for Scotland's Biffy Clyro at Prague's Big Lucerna. The band's second album, "Lo-Fi Life", was released in March 2018. The sound was provided by well-known Prague producer Amak Golden (whose professional resume includes bands like Killing Joke, The Damned and many others). The album received excellent reviews from press and fans alike. In 2019, The Atavists won two Andel Music Awards - Discovery of the Year and Best Rock Album (for Lo-Fi Life). The first single from the album, Wrong, celebrated its success on Europe 2 airwaves, where it repeatedly held the number one spot. In May 2019, the management of British band Muse chose The Atavists as the support act for the Prague stop of The Simulation Theory 2019 tour at Letňany Airport in Prague. In July 2019, the band supported the legendary Skunk Anansie at Prague's Forum Karlín.

Currently, The Atavists are on the radar of international promoters and are preparing to tour Central and Western Europe. In addition, they have completed their third studio album "Prettier Than You" with the pilot single "Time".

The band consists of Adam Krofian - guitar and vocals, Adam Janosik - drums, percussion and vocals, Hugo Trkal - bass guitar, vocals and Max Andrews - keyboards, synthesizer and vocals.
