The biggest metropolitan music event of the year is fast approaching. The Prague Exhibition Centre will be dominated by the sixth edition of Metronome Prague from Wednesday 21 June, when the opening night will take place, until Saturday 24 June. JAMIROQUAI, who will perform on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. after AURORA's concert, will close the programme on the Metronome stage on Thursday 22 June. Friday's programme will be kicked off by the Czech-Berlin project YASHA 96 on the TREE stage, the main stage will be dominated by the French singer ZAZ or the British guitar band EDITORS, and the Park stage after dark by the German electronic band MODERAT. On Saturday, the venue will open at 1 p.m., all seven stages will gradually start to play and the final concert will belong to the band M83. Afterwards, the three Křižík pavilions will be open until 5 am. The festival launches the sale of the penultimate edition of tickets, which are available on the official website www.metronome.cz.
This year's Metronome Prague will offer more music than ever before and is opening up to new musical genres. Visitors can look forward to four outdoor and three indoor stages, 80 performances and more than 300 performers - in total over 100 hours of the best music. The venue opens at 4pm on Thursday, 3.30pm on Friday and 1pm on Saturday. After the main concerts, the programme will continue every evening until the morning in the interior of the Křižík Pavilions. Visitors can look forward to an extended non-musical programme, united by the slogan "courage", and two new stages - the RAP stage and the BEATS FOR METRONOME POWERED BY EVROPA 2. stage.
"It is certainly worth thanking everyone who booked the penultimate magical music weekend in June together with us. We managed to prepare everything in advance this year. We are publishing the entire programme on the website, including the times of individual concerts, so that festival-goers from outside Prague and Prague can plan a one- or two-day holiday, which may come in handy for us to have a good time. Several dramaturgical directions are intertwined in the programme. It will satisfy both fans of cult star names and those who like to enjoy newer names. For this year's edition we have also included rap and dance music for our youngest audience. We continue to collaborate with Czech and Slovak performers on so-called concert specials," says Metronome Prague co-organiser David Gaydečka.
The detailed Metronome Prague programme will help visitors to plan their individual festival days so that they do not miss any favourite performer or other entertainment programme. The stage-by-stage programme with times of individual concerts can be found on the metronome.cz website.
The first glance at the programme already indicates that this year's Metronome will be an incredible ride. The TREE stage is always the first to start playing with the latest musical names, with other stages gradually joining in. The main outdoor METRONOME and PARK stages will showcase the festival's biggest stars. The unique outdoor amphitheatre, the CT FONTÁNA stage, will offer several concert specials each day, prepared by the event organisers together with Czech and Slovak musicians. This year, three indoor stages will be available during the day and then at night. The traditional MOON STAGE and two new stages will be available. The first one is prepared in cooperation with the biggest dance music festival in our country, Beats for Love, and is called BEATS FOR METRONOME POWERED BY EUROPE 2. The second one opens the RAPU festival programme and will end between 3am and 5am.
And what can a day look like for visitors to Metronome Prague? For example, on the first day of the festival they can listen to Czech projects ELLY, ISLAND MINT and SOMETHING SOMETHING on the Tree Stage from 16.30. On the main stages, from 5.30 p.m. onwards, the Czech-Slovak project MIDI LIDI & LACO LUČENIC will play their arrangements of songs from Meky Zbirka's albums Nemoderný chalan, Chlapec z ulice and Zlomky poznania. The audience will also enjoy concerts by singers AURORA, BIIG PIIG and AIKO. The absolute highlight of the evening will be the funky JAMIROQUAI at dusk, followed by MONKEY BUSINESS SPEXIAL with guests from J.A.R. and then BRATŘI on the Inner Moon Stage. The electro and rap scenes will come alive after 6 p.m. with DJ PRIEST and will be alive until 4 a.m., when names such as PSH LIVE BAND, KELVYN COLT and DAVID PENN will take their turn. "Visit our Metronome website and build a program to your liking!" the organisers encourage.
In between each musical set, interested parties can visit some of the accompanying programme, which is designed for all ages. Live podcasts, outdoor installations, film productions, special programmes for children, theatres, workshops and much more await them. One of the biggest draws will be the unique realisation of the iconic Alien by artist H. R. Giger, prepared in cooperation with Metronome Prague by the Alšova jihočeská gallery.
